Lynton & Barnstaple Railway - Located in the south west of England, the Lynton and Barnstable Railway was opened in 1898 and closed in 1935. Built to a track gauge of 1ft 111/2 inch, it ran for 191/2 miles linking the two North Devon towns from which it takes its name. The present Lynton and Barnstable Railway Association, now a trust, has the aim of reconstructing as much as possible of this once famous narrow gauge railway.
